So, I've made it to NH, not entirely in one piece, and I'm loving the chance to get to know the unique, querky and endearing people of the East Coast.

"I'm stuck, momma Cynthia," said a laughing Johane Dort, 9, of Haiti, to Cynthia Kreil, of Midland, after jumping into the "cheese pit" at the Midland Gymnastics Training Center during her birthday party. Dort arrived in the U.S. on a medical visa on Feb. 12 hoping to receive surgery for her blind eye, but the scaring was to severe to operate and instead she was fitted for a colored contact. "She is thrilled, she now looks like her twin sister back home," said Kreil, who sponsored her trip to the U.S.
